Well, it's been an interesting, busy last couple of weeks.
On reading break I was part of a team programming contest where teams compete to solve problems as quickly as possible. We came in 18th/77teams in our region, which isn't bad. It was a crazy set-up because at one of the sites in our region, only two people could fit at the computer at once so they made it a rule at all the sites that we could only have two people (out of the three on our team) at the computer at a time. It was a nifty experience for me.
Right after I got back from reading break I went to Grant's and Matt's party. It had already started, but I caught the tail end of it. We had cake, joked around, took pictures, and watched Spiderman 3. It was great to be able to see Grant and Matt again.
On Sunday I went to Walmart to get a new watchstrap, Dollar Giant to get fuzzy socks and gloves, and to Shoppers Drug Mart to look for a new insole the physiotherapist recommended. Shoppers at Gateway didn't have my size and the Shoppers at the mall didn't have the right brand at all so we had to order it. I'm a wearing them for the first time today. They feel a lot different. Sometimes they hurt a little, but I'm hoping my feet will get used to them.
Sunday night I decided to go swing dancing since it was the long weekend and I figured I should get some fun in. I invited Jesse to come too, and he a had a lot of fun. He says he wants to come back, but he has to figure out a way to work around his RPG game, which is on Sundays.
Monday was my first real day of homework. I was planning to do one essay on Monday and one on Tuesday, but to my frustration, the rain and wind had knocked out the power at Trinity so I wasn't able to access the online journal database on Monday. I still got reading done. On Tuesday I worked from 9:30am to 1:00am the next morning. I just wanted to get it finished. I didn't want to have to come back to it.
At Lifeline on Wednesday we went swimming at MRC. The first "exciting" thing that happened was that Bethany chipped her tooth on the bottom of the pool. I spent the evening hanging out with a girl named Melissa. I found out from Natasha later that one girl bumped her head on the slide and a boy had a nosebleed, but I was happily oblivious at the time. After all the students had been picked up, the youth staff went to Phil's house where we debriefed and prayed for each other in small groups.
Last weekend I spent Friday night til 2:00am working on a physics outline that was due at 9:00am Saturday morning. The good news is, I got an A on it even though I finished so late at night that I'm surprised I was even coherent. The actual paper is due next week Wednesday. All day Saturday and Sunday afternoon I spent working on my database group project, which is due on Thursday. It's currently much closer to being done, but not finished yet.
Last night I worked on that essay I didn't get done on reading break. It turned out to be a lot less work than I was thinking because it was more of an opinion piece based on what we learned in class rather than a research essay, which requires hours of research. I didn't finish it, but I think it is possible I will be able to do that tonight.
I am looking forward to Christmas break immensely. I have only 11 days left of actual classes, 15 days including weekends, and 25 days til my exams are finished. On it goes...
