Yesterday night we had our first dorm meeting. We hammered out some ideas of what we want our dorm to look like and came up with some guidelines/rules to try to put that into effect. The we went up to each dorm room and the occupants of the room each shared something special to them that they brought from home. After they shared, everyone else prayed over them and over the room. It was a sweet sharing time!
This morning my family group got it's turn on the 16m/52ft giant swing. We took turns putting on a harness which was attached to a hanging rope. The rest of the group pulled on another rope to raise the person up and then when everyone was clear, the person in the air pulled a rope to release the brake and swing through the air. I got to go twice. The second time I closed my eyes; it was sweet because it made me much more aware of the sensations on my body, all the different forces and acceleration, and the wind whistling past.
Here's a video of my first swing. I'm not sure what the sounds like because I only watched it on silent, but here it is:
At 3:00pm this afternoon, I decided to bike into Vetlanda, the nearest decent-sized town. It rained off and on, mostly drizzling, so I was glad I wore my rain jacket and rain pants. It seems like I can't manage to go anywhere without getting lost! I made a wrong turn on my way back, but luckily it didn't take me too too long to set myself straight. It made me about 5 minutes late for supper, though.
The first official lectures starts in about 20 minutes. This series is entitled "God's Big Picture" so I think it's probably an overview of the Bible or a look at its overarching themes. We'll see how it turns out!

Sounds like things are going pretty well over there! Have you made any new friends yet?

At first I was like... nothing's happening.
Then I was like... that's a long ways up. That looked like fun!
