Saturday

Today we got to sleep in because instead of breakfast, we had brunch at 10:30am. We had bacon and fried eggs, which were delicious. Since we weren't going to have lunch, we pots and pans people got to wash up after brunch, but it took about half the time it usually does to wash up after lunch. Then I took up a walk up sunrise hill to read my Bible and journal; I met one of my roommates at the top of the hill who was also reading her Bible. The sun went in and out from behind the cloud and it was getting a little chilly by the time I headed back down.

At 2:30pm we got to paint our own mugs. The kitchen doesn't want us taking their mugs back to our dorms because we might loose them and now we also have mugs to make tea and hot chocolate. All the mugs were white so we had to paint something on them so we could tell them apart. Some of the boys just painted their names on them and left. I started out painting "Holsby 2011-2012" , then I added a penguin, "Quark" and a stylized atom; I painted Lamentation 3:22 on it and then some Greek letters and music notes to take up the rest of the free space; I also turned the handle into a Swedish flag. Now the mugs have to dry and be baked so the paint will be permanent. I finished at around 5:15pm, right before dinner. Some people were really creative and artistic, painting roses and dragons and stylized lettering. I don't think mine is beautiful, but I think it expresses my personality pretty well.

I spent the evening talking on Google Plus with my family. We managed to get everyone on video too! We get pretty weird sometimes when you put us in front of cameras. Here's a taste of what we looked like!

Dear Megan Boy it sure looks like you are having the time of your life. Grandpa and I went to see the raptors an d birds of pret last Sat. Jo and Lisa were here. It was so interesting. The hawks etc prey on the birds that eat the grapes in the vinyards. They are trained to return with a whistle. This week we got a rainbarrel to collect water for my flowers. I have also been painting our fence. We took some dead trees out which left a pretty ugly fence in bad need of paint!!. We have sure enjoyed your blogs. We are going to a shower for Auntie Michelle tomorrow. We love you and pray for you every day. Grandpa and Grandma
