I hate being sick. That was my general feeling yesterday. All I have is a silly cold but it is just draining the energy out of me. Yesterday I felt like I was barely awake through my first class and wasn't catching many of the concepts, which is a shame because I think it was an important lecture. I skipped chapel :( and took a "nap" in the collegium. I just closed my eyes and listened to music. I was half afraid I was going to fall asleep and miss my next class but I didn't. That nap helped me survive the rest of the day. Supper also helped revive me a bit and gave me enough energy for tutoring. After tutoring I packed for the retreat and went to bed. Today has been a little better. I haven't been quite so drained and I can breathe through my nose occasionally. At least I only had two classes, one of which was tennis, so I wasn't falling asleep in the middle of them. I am planning to make a valiant attempt to go to sleep on time tonight even though I will be on the retreat because I want to have a better day tomorrow.
Tennis update:
I asked my prof about the grip thing on Wednesday. She said that as long as I was comfortable serving the way I had been, I could keep serving like that. She said we wouldn't normally change our grips from Continental to Eastern Forehand until intermediate tennis and that it gives the ball a little spin. However, even though I didn't have to change my grip, I served abysmally today. I kept not getting the ball over the net. Hopefully we will practice enough serving to rectify this. We "graduated" to normal balls today. Before this we were using training balls which are lighter, don't bounce as fast or as far and are easier to control. I suppose that might be another reason my serves were off but I would have thought since I've used normal balls before it wouldn't be much of a deal. Ah well...
After my second class, I went to the collegium and ate my lunch and helped my friend Erin with her homework of Math for Elementary School Teachers course. They are learning exponents and comparison (<,>,=, etc). It was interesting to watch. I was too lazy to walk back to CANIL to get my physics text book to read.
Wednesday night at Lifeline was fun. We did competition among the Life groups to see who would complete six tasks first. First we had to think of a team name and cheer. We called ourselves the "Awesome Possums." Then we had to through five paper balls out of the balcony window into Nickel Hall. Then the girls from our Life group carried me around the church. After that we went down to the gym to score even baskets on the hoop. We ran back up to Nickel hall and spelled "Lifeline" on the floor with our bodies. We had our group picture taken and we around the circle repeating everyone's names. The first person said their name. The next person said their name and the first person's. The third person said their name and the first and second persons' names, etc. We were the first group finished so we won the pizza party. Afterward, some of the leaders said our group had an advantage because I am the smallest sponsor. I found it funny that my size was an asset for a change. After the competition, we split into our Life groups and each sponsor told an embarrassing story. I couldn't really think of one so I ended up telling them about the time I took Jason up in a tree and then slipped and dropped him and he broke his arm. I was ten and he was a year old yet. Then the sponsors all told about how they became a Christian, one time they knew God was active in their lives, and one piece of advice they would give. I told about this past year how when I went to a new school, God had gave me some friends at school and the opportunity to see Natasha once or twice a week even though we didn't go to the same school anymore.
I got an email from Cam today that said Inside Out Sunday school would be starting Oct 14. Hopefully whatever he has planned will be good.
